Cudmore's Development- Save The Trees

What are the funds for?

Your help is needed to support the fight to maintain the character of our established neighbourhoods.
In November 2018, the developer Vogue (Wycliffe) Ltd filed a development application for 27 condo townhouses and 8 semi-detached houses in Bronte Village, the west end of Oakville Ontario.  The Cudmore Garden Centre is the proposed site of this development.
The proposed plan will impose medium-high density conditions on an established low-density residential neighbourhood. The area is currently zoned for 17 single or semi-detached units. This proposal puts 35 units in a space as big as 3 residential blocks nearly doubling the area’s population density.
There are also 49 trees at risk, in addition to 22 trees being removed from the property, along with the threat to destabilize residential properties.

The community delegated against this proposal in January 2020. Oakville Mayor Rob Burton questioned ¨How is this not over-development?¨   A year later, however, the proposal is gaining momentum.
While we realize growth and revitalization needs to occur, it should do so in a planned and balanced manner. That is what the Livable Oakville Plan and its Zoning By-laws were enacted to do, while maintaining alignment with the Provincial Policy Statements and the Regional Plan. So let us take a stand now to defend the character of our neighbourhoods by supporting development that fits within the established zoning and bylaws.

Who we are:

As the property owners of 3 homes abutting the development proposal, we have been working tirelessly to make our voices heard and be a party at the table to discussions with both the developer and the town.   We are deeply concerned that stable neighbourhoods are under threat by developments that do not respect presiding zoning by-laws and the existing character of our neighbourhoods.

Our story:

To present the best possible case, we have retained legal counsel and sought the advice of a professional planner and arborist. This has been at a significant cost.
Now we need your help to continue to move this process forward.

This is not about one development application; this is about our neighbourhoods and our communities! It is time to stop, listen and work together!  Thank you for your support.
