She had just finished the round of six months of chemo therapy when it
was discovered that chemo or all the surgeries damaged her kidney to the point that they have to remove it. She had surgery on 8/5/15 to remove her left kidney. During the recovery process, our family was hit by the wild fires in the Okanogan Complex. Despite being barely able to move, she managed to evacuate twice. This slowed down her recovery time. In the process of being checked out after the first evacuation, the ER doctor discovered another mass already 4 inches long.
After that was removed, a pet scan was completed to find it on her liver. After several sessions of chemo, they did a liver resection. It has been going on three long years to this fight.
We, her family, are so proud of her. Due to chemo schedule, she had to leave her counseling position. She has worked hard to teach at least once a month which required flying to other states between chemo sessions. This combined with her writing has kept her afloat up till kidney surgery. However, neuropathy settled into her fingers near the end of chemo and she has struggled to be as prolific in her writing so sales are declining as is natural after a book goes off the new list.
She moved to Wenatchee in May of 2016 to be closer to the hospital with the means to take care of side effects from chemo. December of 2015 left her in the hospital with no one close for a week.
She has over $8,000 in medical bills still remaining, and now her cancer has shown up for a fourth time in both lungs and lobes of the liver.
Please help this counselor and writer get back to doing what she does best, enlightening, teaching, and entertaining others. If you prefer to receive something in exchange, her books are listed on her author page at:
