Safe Haven for Veterans

A Request for Funds  from Advantage US Vets Inc

Our Vets Were There When We Needed Them, Now They Are Counting On Us

No military person who fights for his her country should come home only to have to fight for a job. The problem of veteran unemployment, however, is an American epidemic. Despite promises of federal action, the unemployment rate for returning Iraq and Afghanistan vets is nearly 10%. There remain more than 200,000 such vets who are currently unemployed.

Advantage US Vets Inc offers a solution, a small yet holistic, solution.

AUV is a veterans-driven grass roots nonprofit determined to do something about veterans joblessness – by hiring our heroes directly to work on a not-for-profit farmstead in Upstate New York. Honorably discharged veterans will work in the fields and greenhouses, in the honeybee yards and hennery, and animal rescue quarters, manage the farmstead lodge—which will operate in a b&b format, perform community outreach, and more – in a safe, positive, holistic environment designed to ease the often-difficult transition from military to civilian life.

THE IMPACT
We need your help to make AUV’s Roots and Sprouts Farmstead a reality.  We are counting on Americans like you to be there for our veterans who deployed on our behalf--often again and again.

We’ve begun to lay the groundwork to establish the Farmstead, which means we need funds for things like site evaluations, legal and administrative expenses and transportation costs– all necessary before our property can be purchased. Once we complete this groundwork, we will fundraise further toward the purchase price of the land and lodge.

THE ORGANIZATION
AUV is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, with 501(c)(3) status pending.

Our President is Capt. Mark L. Dyson, U.S. Air Force, retired. Mark is a successful Internet entrepreneur in Upstate New York, who is interested in helping his fellow vets enjoy the good life they’ve fought so hard for. He heads up our elected Board of Trustees.

AUV serves all ranks and services. We are neither pro-war nor anti-war – simply citizens who want to step up to help our fellow Americans who answered the call of patriotism.

The AUV officers and trustees join together to thank you for your support and encouragement of our veterans and the purchase of the Roots & Sprouts Farmstead.

Please visit the AUV website for more detail about all of our Programs.  You can also reach us at 398 Jerusalem Hill Road | Clayville, NY 13322 |

Donation disbursement is managed by our Accountant, George C. Schaffner CPA. George is a longtime resident of Cazenovia, NY and a member of the AUV Board of Trustees as well as our treasurer. He contributes his services pro-bono.

Capt. Michael Bolton saw the problem firsthand as he headed a program to help other Oklahoma National Guard officers access jobs as they return from deployment. Ironically, his own job as coordinator was to end April 1.

From "60 Minutes": Disabled veterans are getting help finding work in a tough job environment. Air Force veteran Mike Haynie has created a course to teach vets how to launch their own businesses.
