Family home burnt down

On December 28th at around 4:00pm, while Dad was out of town visiting family for the holidays, he got a phone call that took his breath away and brought him to his knees; his house was on fire. The panic in his face spoke for itself. Shock, despair, and panic became his reality as he realized without his home, his wife's childhood home, a home that's been in the family for over 50 years, he would have close to nothing left. He began to cry out, "Connie's house. What am I going to do? 40+ years of memories in that house."
Emergency personnel responded to the fire as quickly as they could but it was too late. The house was destroyed, and so was almost everything in it. Tragedy strikes.
What do you do when tragedy strikes? You turn to the one you're closest to; your spouse. When tragedy strikes you go home and crawl in bed and sleep the pain away. When tragedy strikes you cry, mourn, grieve, and eventually, as hard as it is, you attempt to put the pieces back together. But, for dad, he doesn't get to turn to mom for comfort, for she's no longer with us, she lost her battle to cancer just 6 months ago. He doesn't have a home to go home to, and he doesn't have anything to help him put the pieces back together.
You see, after mom passed, one of the things that kept dad going was knowing he still had the house that mom grew up in. He knew he had to do whatever it took to keep the house, and part of that meant putting his funds toward the utilities of the house instead of homeowner's insurance.
Dad doesn't have mom for comfort. He doesn't have a home to go to. And he doesn't have insurance to rely on to help him build a new start. But what he does have is us. Our love and our support to help him keep going and little by little we will help pick up the pieces. Please, help us pick up the pieces with him.
