Benefit for Bryce

In 2008, at the age of 17 Bryce got necrotic pancreatitis. Necrotic means that his pancreas was digesting itself and killing the tissue. He was taken to Bismarck by ambulance & put in ICU. He spent 2 weeks there with an ng tube to remove his stomach contents, so he wasn't digesting anything, he could not eat or drink (not even a sip of water) at this time. Bryce gained 40lbs of fluid...fluid seeping out of his pancreas, trying to digest itself & other organs in his abdomen. After he was moved out of ICU, he got worse. His central line got infected & he got a blood clot in his lung. They had to put a vena cava filter in his groin to catch blood clots. He was put back in ICU for about 5 days. After he was moved out again, he had another central line infection, fluid in his lung, a bronchioscope & chest tube put in, a huge pseudocyst on the head of his pancreas & a cluster of small ones on the tail. We spent nearly a month in the hospital.

After two months of being home, Bryce had lost 100lbs and because of the lack of nutrition, was loosing his hair. The following year was filled with hospitalizations, heavy pain medication & the removal of his gall bladder & the vena cava filter (Gall stones are what started this whole ordeal) & a trip to the U of MN for an ERCP where they cut his bile duct.

There aren't many options for Bryce at this time especially without insurance. He has flare-ups that put him in the hospital for a week. No food, no water for about 4 days. Heavy pain meds, blood thinner, because the pain is too much the first few days and he can't walk or move much. Once he's able to come home, he's still on medication for pain & is trying to deal with the mental stress this has on him. At least another two weeks of not being well. It's like clockwork.

The icing on the cake: he's had no insurance since he turned 19 and he can't work. We have been struggling just to pay for his medicine & necessities.

Your donation will go to Bryce's care: medicine, to catch up on our electric & gas bill (we got behind this month because of the longer bout requring more medication), minor dental work (problems caused over the last 6 years by lack of nutrition while hospitalized) & medical bills.

Thank you & God bless!
