CRAZY, I KNOW.

I have raised my goal. Now that I can cover a space to work, I'd ALSO like to be able to devote significant time to several creative projects that require my full attention. If I could be relieved of the money-chase for couple months, that'd allow me to make a huge dent/gather some momentum.

Hey there. You might know me as the Founder and Overlord of WRITE CLUB. You might know me as a live lit performer. You might know me as a co-founder of Pixiehammer Press. You might know me as the creator of solo shows like Bring Me the Head of James Franco, That I May Prepare a Savory Goulash in the Narrow and Misshapen Pot of His Skull, or Wide Open Beaver Shot of My Heart: A Comedy With a Body Count. You might know me as a creative writing teacher. You might know me as a freelance grant writer. Or, if you are my daughter, you might know me as the dad compelled to abandon the YA novel that she loves and is dying to see resolved.

Point is this: I have a lot of creative irons in the fire, the majority of which pay me nothing, but which nonetheless make the world a better, more interesting place. What I need is a place to work that is not in my house. I have no place to meet with the WRITE CLUB team. I'm eating up a (sunless, frankly somewhat depressing) room in our house we can ill afford to spare. I cannot meet with prospective clients. I have many creative projects that falter or stall merely because I lack the space/time/opportunity to focus up on them.

Simply put: I'm losing my mind working out of our house. I could accomplish so, so, soooooo much more if I had a dedicated spot I could go to to make things happen. But, like a lot of us, I got debt - underwater mortgage, credit cards, etc. So I simply cannot currently afford such a space on my own.

Each $500 I can gather is a month I can work in a bright, open, airy place. A place with a conference room where I can meet with people. The place is called Space at Doejo, it's filled with other smart, creative people, and it's centrally located/well-suited to becoming a global HQ for the Belknap enterprise. More here: http://doejo.com/space/

Look - I know there is great need elsewhere. But my show WRITE CLUB gives like $10K/year to charity from the five North American cities it's in currently. Help me become better able to work on getting WRITE CLUB in more cities - this thing is poised to make a substantial impact, and I need a dedicated place to assist in making that happen. Think of your donation as an investment - by helping me out a little bit, you're helping this thing I created extend its reach/maximize its positive impact.

Or maybe you just want to see me write more. I know I want this, and feel pretty strongly that with a space outside my home, I'll be able to do so. I greatly appreciate any few bucks you could kick in on this.
