Helping Out

This is a picture of the motel where one of my students and her sister are living. They were staying with the her boyfriend (a 2017 Kings graduate) and his friend but he was evicted. The motel found out there were four staying in one room and is increasing their weekly rate next week to $500. They are all working at nearby restaurants and using all of that money to pay the hotel. The school is working with groups to find them housing but this is a slow process. They don’t have a car and therefore need a place that is within walking distance to work. Obviously they have no family that can help. She comes to school each day with a smile and works hard. I’d like to be able to pay for a week of their hotel room while I research options with them and the school.

I know she’d be grateful for any help you can give them. They’re trying to break the circle of poverty and drugs they were born into. Thanks in advance!
