Nathan Richard's Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Nate, along with a few friends, was involved in a severe car crash on August 6th. They were driving back to ukiah from Fort Bragg when a tire blew out as the came around a turn and the car went off the side, dropping 14 feet while rolling twice and landing upside down. Nate was not moving, and his friends called paramedics. He suffered a broken neck and could not move his limbs, and was having difficulty breathing. He was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa, and then to UC Davis medical center, where he underwent an urgent 5 hour surgery to fuse the vertebrae in his neck. They basically gave him a new neck, fusing the vertebrae together and inserting 6 lateral screws and two long rods vertically. They are hopeful that he will recover 50-60% of rotation in his neck. As far as how well he regains movement in his limbs and hands, that will be determined over time. He was kept heavily sedated for the first 24 hours, and is now slowly beginning the recovery process.
At this piont, he cannot use his right arm or leg, and his recovery will require him to be at the hospital for a month, possibly longer, while he undergoes physical therapy and rehabilitation. The financial burden is heavy for his family, and there is a long hard road ahead. We are gathering donations to help ease the heavy load of Nates dad, Dave, staying in Davis to help care for Nate, and the lack of income due to being away from their jobs . Please give as you are led!
