Chameka Scott Memorial Scholarship

A good way to measure the impact a person had on their world are the things people say about them when they're gone.

After word got out that Chameka Scott -- member of the 2005 NCAA National Champion Baylor Bears women's basketball team, corporate performance coach, friend and mentor -- had died after a long battle with cancer, the explosion of social media comments about her painted a vivid picture:

"You showed us all how to live strong, influence beyond borders, and absolutely live life to the fullest."

"There are many good people in the world. There are a few people that you just naturally gravitate towards, and then there are the very few whose mere presence in the world seems to level out much of the God-awful shitty messes that life can bring. There's something about these individuals that can reach across time and distance, and even when your problems seem too big, bring you just a small modicum of inner peace."

"I have never met a more beautiful human, inside & out. You were the fiercest competitor and the funniest woman I've ever met. Your smile brightened everyone's days and you worked tirelessly to show love to all. I am a better person because of you."

"The way I see it, both Jesus and Chameka Scott spread more love, light and joy in each of their 33 years on earth than most people could ever fathom. Your impression on our hearts and in our lives will forever be cherished. Thank you for living so boldly and for encouraging us all to do the same. Heaven drafted an MVP yesterday."

"There will never be another like Chameka."

Chameka valued hard work, dedication and loyalty. To best honor her memory and her ideals, all funds donated will be used to endow scholarships awarded to college-bound high school seniors who've demonstrated they share her ideals, and strive to have a positive impact in their worlds.
