Bring Carlos Home

Maria Vargas the mother of Carlos died in a tragic car accident on October 28th, 2018 in Mexicali. This is my attempt to help in explaining the devastating circumstances that have impacted her son Carlos's life. Since Maria passed away her son has been staying with someone who isn't part of the immediate family and his living situation has been very difficult. He was only six years old at the time of her accident. His sister was born in the US and moved back to Mexicali when she was two years old, but came back to the states when she was seven for a medical condition to be treated at Loma Linda and has been in California ever since.

Maria's family started the process to adopt Carlos about a month after she passed. His father was never really involved his life and had to sign paperwork as part of the adoption process which took a while. And by the time everything started gaining momentum the pandemic started. You can imagine the frustrations this caused for the family over the next year. With everything closing the whole process was pretty much brought to a sudden halt.

Once everything started opening back up the family resumed the process and stayed persistent in all the steps that needed to be taken. After all this time Carlos's Grandma was just barely able to adopt him in Mexicali 2 weeks ago. The family has tried tirelessly in everything they can do legally to get him back to the states to be with his immediate family. Now the US is saying his Grandma has to go live with him in Mexicali for 2 years before he can come back with her. Again you can only imagine how frustrating this is for the family. On top of all this Carlos's Grandma is his sister's legal guardian and can't leave due to her medical condition which requires visits to Loma Linda. Plus it would make things extremely difficult for the rest of the family financially amongst other reasons. And that's just it, the family has taken all the appropriate steps but lack of finances on top of everything else has made it really hard.

So to expedite the rest of this process and finally get Carlos here where he belongs we need your help to raise money for legal fees. We trust and believe that $10,000.00 will be enough and if there is any extra money after all legal fees are paid it will be used to help someone else in a similar situation. We will keep you informed every step of the way. Also, if anyone knows any lawyers or anyone who can help please reach out in a message. Let's just say the lawyers the family has talked to haven't been very nice. Any support is greatly appreciated. Please pass this along. Thanks a lot and God bless you all.
