This is Amy. And Amy...well...Amy is nothing short of amazing. Amazing mother, amazing partner, amazing daughter, amazing friend. The list of things she is goes on and on, but right now, the most immediate one is amazing patient. In 2017, this beautiful person was diagnosed with breast cancer. As like anyone else diagnosed with cancer, she was shocked, upset, and saddened, but she has refused to allow this battle to dampen her spirit (though some days are certainly harder than others.)
When asked if she was angry, she’s adamant that she is not. Unlike most people, Amy sees and appreciates the gifts this disease has also provided. She’s incredibly grateful for the connections she’s made with others, both old and new, for the incredible love and support she’s received throughout this journey. It’s not lost on her that this all came about because of the dreaded words she’s had to share, “I have cancer.”
Amy has attacked this cancer with positivity, with love, honesty, tenacity and grit. She has armed herself with a strong team of doctors, loving family and friends, and the sheer will to beat this. If you know her, you know she will win.
But to get there, she needs our help.
Some years ago, Amy walked away from her position as a paralegal in a prestigious firm to raise her son and be a complete hands-on Mom. She and her fiancé, Brandon, committed to putting family first - not just their own, but everyone else’s too! They rented and opened a lovely river cabin to visiting families and turned their tranquil hideaway into an Air bnb.
They often foster less fortunate children who don’t have loving parents, as their Jake does.
By opening their home and their hearts, Amy has ensured to raise Jake to be a giving, loving young boy and a person who is vested in the well-being of others. If only everyone raised their children to be empathetic and caring, the world would be a much better place.
On Monday, April 9th, Amy will begin the process of undergoing a double mastectomy.
This next phase of her battle is surely not to be easy one, and one where our help and generosity, will make all the difference to her.
With mounting medical bills, and her overall health currently in a decline due to complications with chemotherapy, Amy could use our support. Her own doctor has said that in 30 years of practicing medicine, she has never seen someone have more complications due to chemotherapy than Amy has had. And yet, this woman....our Amazing Amy....keeps smiling and giving as much of herself as she can to others (even when she has little to no gas left in the tank.)
We ask that you kindly offer a contribution on her behalf to be used for medical bills, household expenses, or any general necessities.
