Hello! My name is Crystal from KIPP King Collegiate High School. I am a junior who loves to code, dance, workout, bowl, build robots, play video games, and volunteer. I love to hang out with friends around the Bay Area and spend my summers productively.
My goal through this is to raise enough money to go to Washington University of St. Louis for the High School Summer Scholars Program. My acceptance to this program reflects my academic abilities and strong motivation to learn more outside of the regular school year. Through the program, I want to experience a new people, a college environment, college classes, and a new city. I never travel out of state, so I hope I get the chance now.
To get to know me, my identities are sports, STEM, and Interact. Interact is the largest club on campus that is focused on "service above self". I take this to heart because I love to help others through volunteering for marathons or food pantries to help others who need it the most. I love to play and watch almost any sport. I personally love bowling, running, working out, swimming and dancing. First, I am most excited to join the dance class offered at WashU to experience a more challenging class and meet other dancers. I also hope to further my knowledge of AP Biology to a college-level biology course at WashU. Lastly, I want to take a class in Economics to explore the topics since my school does not offer it. Overall, I know I will make the most of this experience and have the best time learning in a new environment.
In the end, my family is considered a low-income family. I qualify for free lunch. I have received financial aid from WashU to pay for half of the tuition. My mom agreed to pay for some of the tuition, textbooks, plane tickets, and personal expenses.
As a result, I am still fundraising to cover the rest of the tuition. The tuition is due on June 1, 2018.
I am and will be extremely grateful for any donation or sharing of this post. All support will go towards my future in education and will be given back in service and knowledge.
