We are putting together this “Go Fund Me” page to get support for Crystal Lee Witty (Priest) as she goes for a Liver Transplant.
Crystal is 31 years old. She is a loving wife, of 11 ½ years to Jeremy Witty, and amazing mother of 2 young children, Amyas (5) and Kaiya (4).
As many of you may, or may not, know Crystal has been suffering silently with 2 chronic diseases for several years. Crohn's, and a less commonly known disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). The PSC was diagnosed in July 2003, and is a disease where the immune system attacks her liver. Crystal has received a variety of treatments for this condition over the past 14 years and was told in late 2015 that she would require a full liver transplant in the next 5-10 years. Unfortunately, in June 2017 Crystal had a routine MRI and it was discovered that due to her condition she has developed Hepatic Cellular Carcinoma (cancer of the liver cells). This development means that Crystal will be looking at a transplant as soon as possible. She is being ushered through the Liver Transplantation Process as quickly as possible and will be officially listed for transplantation the first week of October 2017. Doctor’s feel that this is the most viable and safest option available. Crystal is facing a long road of surgery and recovery.
With this new reality, unfortunately, there is the additional financial burden of travel to and from Halifax, Nova Scotia for several appointments (both before and after the transplant) and the surgery itself, as well as, Crystal being unable to work once the Liver Transplant takes place for several months. Crystal’s husband Jeremy will also have to miss work to be present for the surgery and travel with her to and from appointments. In January 2016 Crystal and her husband Jeremy placed an insurance policy on that would help cover any hospitalization and transplant expenses after the policy had been in effect for over 2 years. Unfortunately, despite this effort to plan ahead because this has been discovered during the 2 year wait period for the insurance company to view her condition as “pre-existing”, the policy is now void.
We are asking for your help to ease the burden for this wonderful family during this trying time.
