Hello, my name is Mariah Thornton and I am a nursing student at GSC. I am raising money to help my brother who was in a car accident January 8th, 2015. He broke his C3 and C4 causing him to be paralyzed from the shoulders down, with very little chance of recovery.
Gary Lloyd is a loving son, brother, and father of a 5 year old girl. In addition to medical expenses, and the drastic change in Gary's lifestyle and future, the burden of this injury greatly impacts myself, our parents, and the future that Gary can give little McKenna.
Luckily, Gary has health insurance that has helped with the current hospitalization bills. However, we can not afford the cost of accessible housing, home health care, accessible transportation, and the future miscellaneous expenses that accompany an injury as such. Also, Gary qualifies for very little government assistance (disability/social security).
We were unexpectedly given the news that Gary would be discharged from the hospital in ONE WEEK. Although he is being discharged, Gary has recieved very little rehablitation (He was taught to beath, swallow, and maneuver his chair).
