Cruz Family COVID-19 Expenses

Donation protected
For my entire life, my dad, John, has been my best friend. He's the best man, father, brother, uncle, and friend I know. And I almost lost him to COVID-19. I still might as he fights every day for his life.

He and I both contracted COVID-19 on December 1st, his 59th birthday. My case of it was very mild and I recovered within a couple of weeks, but my dad wasn't as lucky as I was. On December 14th, he was rushed to the hospital, where he was almost immediately intubated and put on a ventilator. If he had waited any longer to go to the hospital, he would've died and I would have lost one of the best people in my life. Today (Dec. 31) marks his 17th day on the ventilator.

With my mom's help, I've been able to make sure to keep all of his bills and expenses current with the money he had and has received from COVID assistance provided by his employer. When the new year comes, he's going to have to break into his PTO to continue getting paid. While all of these things are helpful for now, I know they aren't going to last forever, and in the coming months, things are going to become financially worse for my family. I work a less-than-part-time minimum wage job on my college campus, so I don't make anywhere close to enough money to take care of my dad and our finances.

I feel very helpless right now; I can't help my dad get better. I can't help him fight COVID. I can't help his lungs get strong enough to come off the ventilator. But what I can do, and what I need to do, for him is to make sure all his finances are taken care of so that, when the time comes for him to come home to me, he doesn't have that burden weighing on his shoulders and he can focus all his energy on recovering and recuperating. My dad has taken care of me for the past 19 years. It's my turn to take care of him now.

Donations will go towards medical bills, household bills & expenses, and any other expenses that have arisen and may arise in the future.

I don't know what the future will bring. All I can do is hope and pray for the best possible outcome, which is that my dad beats this and he can come home. If you can donate, please do, any little bit will help. If you can't, I ask that you please share this campaign and that you also pray that my dad comes out of this. I'm not ready to lose him.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
