Cruise for Houston

Donation protected
Hey Everyone!

I'm setting up this GoFundMe campaign so we all can come together and help all the people AND pets in Houston.

With all the flooding happening in Houston currently, a lot of us probably feel like helping but we're not sure how to. This is where this campaign steps in.

All proceeds donated to this campaign with be split evenly, and donated to (2) seperate charities.

The first is Houston Pets Alive. Their mission is to promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals, and with the flooding in Houston - they've been insturmental in ensuring pets don't end up in a kill shelter. This charity also supports both dogs and cats, along with other animals, so rest assured - whatever type of animal you want to support, this charity does so.

The second is the JJ Watt Foundation. This foundation was originally formed by NFL play JJ Watts, who plays for the Houston Texans. While the foundation was formed to support kids in school, JJ Watt started a fund where most all the money will go directly into the city of Houston, and benefit those who truly need it. With less overhead - this makes the most logical sense if the primary purpose is to get this money directly into the city of Houston.

For all those local to the DC metro area, I will also be hosting a "Cruise for Houston" drive on Sunday, September 10th.

Details will be uploaded here along in the coming day, so if you're interested in participating - be sure to check back. The cruise donation "fee" will be $20 per vehicle. Of course if you want to donate more, you're more than welcome to. If you're unable to attend, you can still donate through this campaign and contibute to making a difference.

Per the GoFundMe requirements, below are the requested/required information.

Who you are and where you’re from:

My name is Rick Goyal. I live in Virginia. I started this campaign purely because I wanted to help, but wasn't sure how. I wanted to make a donation but I heard about a lot of scams, so after contacting some people in Houston, I learned about these two reputable foundations. I figured there are more people like me - who want to help but aren't sure where to donate - so this fund splits money between a no-kill shelter and a relief fund for those individuals who need assistance. Therefore for every dollar donated, YOU are helping both the people of Houston, but also the animals left behind, and can't survive without our help.

Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for:

I found both of these organizations through referals from friends from Houston. Houston Pets Alive is a no-kill shelter, looking to expand to house more abondanded animals.  JJ Watts Foundation started a fund specifically for those affected by Harvey, which has been featured by many media outlets and supported by many recoginzable individuals. As of 9/1, they have raised nearly $15m.

How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible):

50% of total funds will go to Houston Pets Alive.
50% of total funds will go to JJ Watt's Houston Flood Relief Fund

Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiary/ies:

If possible to withdraw directly to the two charities, that'll be ideal. Will look to GoFundMe to guidance on the best and cleanest way to do this. Every penny raised will go towards the two charities.

Every dollar helps, so even if it's a few dollars, that's a few dollars more than we had. If 1000 people see this and donate only $1 - the goal would be met. So every dollar counts - literally!
