Cruise for Cancer Fighter, SSgt Heath Conrad

SSgt Heath Conrad joined the United States Air Force at 22 years old on March 29, 2010. He served in active duty status until March 29, 2016. He then enlisted with the Arkansas Air National Guard on March 30, 2016 where he has served with the 189th Maintenance Squadron to present time. In September 2016 while SSgt Conrad was being treated for a sinus infection, doctors discovered a cancerous growth that had grown so large it had reached the base of his brain. One week after the removal of the tumor he developed a severe infection where he had to undergo another surgery to remove the infection. He then started many rounds of radiation treatment and recovery.
Later in October 2019 during routine check ups, doctors discovered that numerous tumors had grown back in his frontal lobe, where he had to undergo a third surgery to have them removed. After his surgery and recovery, SSgt Conrad continued his normal duties. Then in June of 2020, doctors found 6 more tumors requiring a fourth surgery to be conducted. SSgt Conrad has been in recovery since and is doing well.
Over the last few years SSgt Conrad has had many difficult obstacles to overcome, fighting many battles and coming out on top. SSgt Conrad is a fighter and has kept his head held high throughout, never letting anything bring him down. He continues to serve proudly always stepping up to any task thrown his way. He is a role model to all that serve around him. To show our love and support, the 189th Airlift Wing is looking for donations to send him and his family on a cruise in October.
