</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div>BigBand.
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div>Em 2024 voltei a repetir o processo.
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div>Muito obrigado.

<div>My name is Álvaro Correia Pinto. I am a college graduate jazz saxophonist from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. I am reaching out to ask for help from all of you to achieve my dream of continuing my master's studies in New York.
</div>
<div>From an early age, it has been my goal to study at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. MSM is considered one of the best music universities in the United States, especially in the jazz department. The university has a fantastic and incomparable teaching staff, including the professor who was assigned to me, the American saxophonist Jaleel Shaw. He was a finalist in the renowned Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition and the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award winner. He is an iconic member of the Roy Haynes quartet and part of the prestigious Mingus Big Band.
</div>
<div>In 2022, I visited New York for the first time and instantly fell in love with the city and its vibrant jazz scene. The musical atmosphere there made me even more passionate about pursuing my musical interests. It's an ideal place for young musicians like me to develop and refine their skills.
</div>
<div>In 2023, I applied to the Manhattan School of Music and was thrilled to receive the news that I had been accepted. However, even though I received one of the best scholarships, it only covered around 70% of the tuition fees, which amounted to $40,000 out of a total of $55,500.
</div>
<div>According to the school, the estimated amount of money I would spend per year, including tuition fees and all other expenses, was around $80,000. After much reflection, I decided to cancel my enrollment and try again the following year to obtain a bigger scholarship, as I couldn’t pay all these expenses.
</div>
<div>In 2024, I repeated the process. I applied again to the Manhattan School of Music and was accepted again. Unfortunately, the school awarded me the same scholarship as the previous year, which amounted to $40,000 out of a total of $55,500, after the tuition fees had been increased. Once again, I had to postpone my trip to New York for financial reasons.
</div>
<div>This time, I chose to ask for a one-year deferral, and that's why I continue to be accepted at MSM. I will then have 1 year to raise all the money I need so that in 2025, I can fulfill my dream of studying in New York. I believe that, with your help and through crowdfunding, I can reach $10,000, and finally be able to go.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, there are no exclusive scholarships in Portugal for music students studying abroad, especially for jazz musicians. Therefore, it has been impossible for me to gather the money needed for my studies in New York.
</div>
<div>Therefore, I appeal to all of you to contribute and share with all your friends and family.
</div>
<div>Thank you very much.
