I was recently accepted into two master programs that will assist me in my path towards creating transformative spaces and providing tangible resources towards Black trans liberation. I think it’s important for people with my lens and capacity to be in positions where we can ideate dreamworlds that recognize trans violence and hold space for trans expansion despite a lack of access to the resources that institutions hold. I want to create theory and understanding around existing outside of binaries and the ways in which trans people practice prefigurative politics within our own communities and paths. I want people to understand how multifaceted oppression is for Black trans folks and how our marginalization takes away all forms of autonomy to the point where masking is survival.

 

Due to my decision to pursue a master’s in Sociology this Fall, I have been completely cut off from familial support as well as threatened and harassed.I don’t have access to generational wealth or any wealth…and am consistently working for my survival on a monthly basis. In order for me to go to school next fall I need community support in every way possible. I have been the victim of so much violence due to femme-phobia and transphobia within the state of Georgia and moving states is a fundamental step in my healing journey and continued education. My goal is 5,200 which I hope will cover my initial moving fees while I look for a job in a new city and account for the % that gofundme takes out .
