Carolien - Crossing the Atlantic Ocean

Hi friends, family & supporters!

In 2 weeks I will start on my mission. With a team of 18 people, we will cross the Atlantic ocean from the Caribbean Islands to the Netherlands.  But this sailing adventure is different, as the ship will turn into a floating think tank: My crew and I will research, design and develop solutions for transitioning to a more sustainable built environment.

I  believe that when a motivated and interdisciplinary team is gathered on a boat with nowhere else to go, exposed to the bold nature for 6 weeks and in complete disconnection from the every-day life, it has the potential to create out-of-box ideas for the sustainable transition. Next to contributing to this transition, I look forward to learning how to live together with the crew, get inspired by the open sea and how to motivate friends, family and people that will cross my way to also contribute to this mission.

This sailing adventure is organised by the organisation Clean2Antartica, an organisation set up by an ordinary Dutch couple who one day committed to a zero-waste life. Since then, they have launched several projects to accelerate the sustainability transition and I am very proud to take part in one of them. Clean2Antarctica is a beautiful examples to have the courage to just go and MAKE the change happen. They inspire me a lot.

For the sailing trip and the upcoming projects of Clean2Antarctica, I started this Crowdfunding campaign. Every little contribution will help and your support will be much appreciated :)
