Crossing for Cancer (2)

Donation protected

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do” – Eleanor Roosevelt

In an effort to inspire hope for those waging a brave fight against cancer Dan Nichols hopes to complete his second lake crossing, on July 28, 2018 off the coast of Georgian Bay.

Recently, a close friend (Anna) and her family (the Panta Family with three children 4, 2, and infant ) have been impacted by a rare, aggressive cancer as Anna has begun rigorous treatments. It is in these times of struggle that we seek to find ways to support, heal and show compassion. In an effort to commend Anna’s strength, determination and Grit, Dan would like to cross the lake in her honour with proceeds from his record swim being donated to the London Regional Cancer clinic in recognition of Anna’s bravery.

As Dan endures his 32km swim from Honey Harbour, Ontario to Midland, Ontario, and returning back to Honey Harbour, he will battle self-doubt, withstand pain, live in the moment, focusing on what he has control over and abide to the ever changing conditions. All of this seems minimal when we think and empathize with cancer patients, like Anna that endure incomprehensible physical and emotional struggles as they undergo treatments.

All funds further donated will be sent to Anna’s family as she undergoes treatment in China. We have already e-transferred her the money.
