<div>Hey, you’re probably here from my most recent video I posted on all platforms. Last February, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Up until that point I had only ever heard of Crohn’s in small snippets of conversations about some of mine and my friends favourite actors, comedians and celebrities who battle with the disease. The first time I had heard of it was when Dynamo the Magician was all over the news about his condition and what he was going through at the time. A couple of years later, I find myself severely unwell for a week, and eventually I am hospitalised over night and almost immediately diagnosed with Crohn’s. The Drs came into my bay, felt my stomach, I then had an MRI and shortly after the news hit. A month later I returned for a colonoscopy, which was the final confirmation. A year on, after my whole life changed, my symptoms have progressively gotten worse, which in turn destroys my mental health and eventually has lead to losing my hair in clumps. Alopecia can be linked to Crohn’s as both are autoimmune related. Imagine living in a body where it is in constant battle with itself. Every day I am in pain. Every day I am weighed down by the plaguing thoughts of “I wonder what’s happening in my body, I hope I’ll be okay” not to mention the comparison to my peers, all who seem to be what I deem “normal”, living their lives with ease. Although that’s not true, we all have our battles and not all are visible. I no longer want to be controlled by Crohn’s. I no longer want to be held captive under a cap hiding away my patchy, balding head. I no longer want to lay prisoner to this any more. I want to change my perspective and do something impactful whilst using my platform for good. I’m shaving my head to both liberate myself and free myself from the control my declining health has on me. What hair can fall out when there is no hair to fall out? Raising both awareness and money for Crohn’s and Colitis is important to me because, well, I’m living with Crohn’s every day. Crohn’s and Colitis UK have an incredible mission and the more money we raise the closer we come to figuring out how to come out on top.
