The Crocker Field lights are failing!
The current lights are 30 years old. The Crocker Field Restoration Committee and the school department can no longer maintain these lights because the technology is old and the parts are very difficult to find, if any exist.
The new LED lights will be energy efficient and will be equipped with controls so that the lighting can be properly adjusted from the ground. Also, the wood poles are nearing the end of their useful lives and need to be replaced with steel poles.
Night games under the lights have become a central part of the school and community culture that draws thousands together in the city of Fitchburg, MA. All children of every culture who come here to mingle, to play, and to perform benefit from this outstanding facility.
Crocker Field is on the national and state registers of historic places due to the fact that the field was designed by the famed Olmsted Brothers landscape firm and was modeled after their work at Harvard Stadium. Next year, Crocker Field will celebrate its 100th year serving children of all ages.
We ask for your help in funding new lights to illuminate this cherished field to start the 2018 -19 seasons.
All funds raised will be deposited directly to the Crocker Field Restoration Fund, a non-profit 501(3)(c) organization founded in 2004 and located in Fitchburg, MA. Donors will receive a tax deducible receipt from GoFundMe.
