Lacrosse at Croatan High School:
It’s going to be a monumental year at CHS with the introduction of a brand new athletic team that will see action in the spring of 2015! Our success, however, relies heavily on the financial assistance of friends, family and the community and we are appealing to you to help reach our goals.
Our History:
Lacrosse has been termed “the fastest game on two feet” and statistics show it is the fastest growing sport in America. Eastern NC is not immune to this growth as witnessed by the enthusiastic response to the development of the Carteret Youth Lacrosse program two years ago. Because of the local interest in the sport and the strength of the program, CYLA proposed the start of a competitive high school club team at Croatan that will compete with area high schools from Kill Devil Hills to Wilmington. With the approval of the Principal and Athletic Directors, on 26 August 2014 Croatan High School was accepted into Conference 2 for the 2015 NCHSAA Lacrosse spring season.
Where Your Dollars Go:
Money raised will help lower the registration fees of the students which would be used to pay for equipment and supplies such as helmets, uniforms, goalie gear, official game goals, backstop netting, field paint, transportation, first aid and athletic supplies and much more. Each student will still be responsible for their own protective gear but the hope is someday we can fund this as well.
Vision and Values:
Our goal is to be a strong, permanent fixture in our school and community, promoting a positive environment that enables our young adults to learn and excel in the sport of lacrosse. The club seeks to honor the game by instilling values of leadership, academics, sportsmanship and teamwork while fielding a competitive team in our conference.
