CRITICAL NEED FOR LIFESAVING THERAPY

Equus Rescue and Therapy is a 501(c)3 non- profit that rescues, rehabilitates, retrains, rehomes off-the-track Thoroughbreds and other breeds that find themselves in dire straits, many times starved or heading to slaughter.

Currently, two of our beautiful souls are in critical need of a therapeutic system called a Bemer. This is a large and unexpected cost for us  - we are told that it’s our last chance to save their lives. Charm is recovering from founder, and fighting pain daily from a birth defect that affects her hip. Raven is recovering from a long term illness that has atrophied her muscles in her hind end. The Bemer system is an electro magnet blanket and leg wraps (cuffs) that the horse will wear to help stimulate circulation, muscle regrowth and overall restoration to full health. This system has been highly recommended by our Veterinarian, Equine Chiropractor and our Farrier. They tell us in order for these beautiful souls to have a chance for full recovery - this is it. This is an extraordinary expense that were unprepared for.

Although we have an urgent need for the Bemer system, it’s therapeutic benefits will be put to use for several more rescued horses currently in our care, and for horses that come to us in the future for years to come.

In addition to the needing to raise money for the Bemer therapy system, we are asking for your help with the recurring costs of veterinary care, equine chiropractic care, and farrier care. We are also in need of 130 doses of Ivermectin to treat and protect our horses from habronemiasis, also called summer sores. Summer sores result from a complex association between the horse, the stomach worm and stable flies. Although stomach worms can cause inflammation in the lining of the horse’s stomach, their greatest threat is when they invade fresh wounds or moist areas on the horse’s body. In addition, flies can cause nonhealing skin lesions, intense itching and the formation of exuberant granulation tissue (proud flesh) - an extremely difficult skin and wound issue! Since COVID and with the improper usage of Ivermectin to treat it, the price has skyrocketed from roughly $2 to $5 to $10+ a tube! We need 130 doses. Can you help?

Please help Equus Rescue and Therapy today, and make these purchases possible to save these lives. Without this system, these horses will not make it, they are in constant pain and we are asking for YOU to help US save their lives. Without the Ivermectin, we cannot keep our horses comfortable and free from wounds and pesky flies that cause sores and infection.

Will you consider helping now and please share our need with others? Time is of the essence - and only you can help us! We are grateful for the support we receive
