Buy an Airway Management Trainer for Nepal

CCNEPal has travelled to Nepal to upgrade critical care skills since 2007. In 2019 we worked extensively with College of Medical Sciences in Bharatpur Nepal, a leading supplier of medical and nursing manpower for the Terai region. Their teaching hospital has the most active Emergency Department in this region of Terai.
CoMS has been around for 25 years and has a proven track record. In the past, I have lent them my equipment for extended periods of time while I returned to USA, and they have always cared for it with no problem. This year, the anesthesia department asked me how they could get an Airway Management Trainer.
The device looks like this:
This is used to teach skills of using Bag-Valve-Mask; clearing the airway; endotracheal intubation; and others. It is manufactured by the Laerdal Corporation, and is the gold standard for this type of simulator. They also have similar devices used to train pediatric and neonatal airway skills. We have used them in USA for decades. This one will be available to teach hundreds of Medical Students, Medical Officers, and Doctors.
Cost?
The cost of the main unit is about $2,200 USD, plus the cost to ship from USA. We would also like to donate some of the accessories such as the airway demonstration model . This costs about $200 USD. If we exceed the target to raise funds we would like to donate a pediatric or neonatal model as well.

Every new clinician needs to practice these skills, but for obvious reasons it is a good idea to use a simulator before trying them out on a critically ill person for the first time!
Background of CCNEPal
Nepal is one of the poorest countries of Asia, but they are trying to develop a medical system there to provide a full range of health services. The new doctors an nurses coming out of the medical colleges have not had the benefit of teaching about critical care skills, and "CCNEPal" was formed in 2011 to upgrade this set of skills. We have presented a standard course to over 4,000 nurses and doctors, in more than 120 sessions, throughout the country. We know our training is valuable and we are developing a network of Nepalese with expertise to take this on without our help.

I am in Nepal for ten weeks in summer 2019 to continue this effort. I will be hosted by the College of Medical Sciences in Chitwan Nepal, and we will offer this training to professionals from throughout the "Terai" - the area most in need of health systems development.
We wish to upgrade the main simulators we use. We already have a Pinnacle Tech AT-35 for use in teaching ecg.

Donating to this fund will directly impact the ability deliver emergency care in the Terai region, an area with the least favorable health outcomes of the country.
