Carroll Ray's (CR) Medical Fund

Last August twenty-fourth our family experienced an unimaginable loss. Our father/stepfather  of twenty-four years, Carroll Ray (CR) Lewis, unexpectedly suffered a catastrophic heart attack.  CR seemed fine that morning and then started complaining of not feeling well.  Shorthly after that he fell to the ground as our very petite mother tried to break his fall.  She started CPR and called 911.  Extensive life saving measures were taken, but they were unable to save him. For anyone that knew him it would come as a great surprise that it would be his heart that would fail. Besides his very robust and healthy nature CR was ALL heart. We believe he only lasted as long as he did because he did not want to leave the family he loved so very much.

We are a blended family with 4 children and their spouses and 10 grandchildren that he loved dearly.  CR never used the word Step.  We were all his children and grandchildren.  CR was raised to be a hard worker and he took that to heart. CR helped anyone he could and would have given his last dime to anyone in need.

This excruciating, unexpected loss of such an amazing man has left us all raw and lost, even all these months later. But for our stepmother/mother, Jeanna, it has left emotional and financial devastation. She got a job within a month of his funeral. She is doing everything she can to recover from this tragedy. However the hospital bills from the efforts to save his life are astronomical. She applied for financial assistance but the hospital is using a technicality that he received one check in the prior month making her not eligible for assistance.

This is especially gut wrenching as his most fervent wish was to take care of his family. Especially, his wife Jeanna. He worked so very hard to provide for her and took such pride in being able to help his children if needed and help to support his elderly mother-in-law after my grandfather succumbed to cancer.

Jeanna,  took care of my grandfather as he succumbed to cancer in 2009. She took over care of her mother after our grandfather passed. She spent years flying back and forth to Texas to help her sister-in-law, CR's only sister, who was suffering from breast cancer and lent moral support to her brother-in-law during her illness and after her passing. She has always taken care of everyone else. CR was the only person who ever took care of her and we know he is probably devastated by her current circumstances

We, her children, will help in anyway that we can but are limited as we all have young children. We are appealing to anyone who can to help us relieve this burden from a woman whom has already been through so much.

The hospital bills total $150,000. We would like to raise as much of this as possible to allow my mother to try and find some closure and heal from her loss.
