Christopher is four and completely non verbal. He has not only learned how to escape his crib, but is now flipping the mattress over and getting underneath. I'm afraid he will suffocate or strangulate an arm or leg in the holes in the bottom of the crib without the mattress covering it. He cannot be in a normal bed because he can open doors now and can break off door covers. My fear is he will go outside and get lost or hurt or hurt himself in the house while we are asleep. He has no concept of danger whatsoever. If I'm not holding his hand while we are outside, he runs. No destination in particular, he just needs constant motion/stimulation and can't stand still. I cannot protect him while I'm asleep and I can't function as a mother by never sleeping. Medicaid will take months to approve us and months to actually get us the bed. And that's only if we get approved at all. Chris is in immediate danger. He could be gone or hurt tonight. I hate doing things like this and have refused to do this until he started flipping his mattress recently. I am afraid for his safety and that comes first. Anything helps.
