Creekmore Family Fire Help Fund

The Santa Rosa Tubbs Fire destroyed our parents’ home of 30 years and all of their possessions.  They had only a minute’s notice to evacuate and no time to pack anything but their pets before flames consumed their home and the surrounding community.  All that is left is a chimney.  Nothing was spared by the fire.

They have been left with nothing and the process to resettle will be slow and difficult.  Currently resources are limited to shelters and basic needs for evacuees.  Our parents are safe with family but we are asking the help of our community with this unexpected loss.  Their investments were limited to their family, their land, running a small business, and supporting those in need.  Their financial resources have always been limited.  The fire took the tools and vehicles our father used to run his business and as well as his ability to earn income.  The Mark West school where our mother has continued to work for 20 years is in the area still under fire. It is total devastation to their livelihood.

My parents have given so much all their lives, when they often had little to give. They opened their hearts and home to so many, asking nothing in return.  They left the home with nothing, not even photos. Fire insurance will only cover so much and we want them to be as comfortable as possible during this very devastating time. Right now, family is helping to cover their basic needs.  Longer term we are asking the community to help purchase a trailer to get them back on their property in hopes to rebuild and grow the land and community again.

Please help us raise the money for our parents to buy a trailer to live in while they rebuild their lives. Any amount big or small will help.  And please spread the word.

For those wishing to make other donations directly to the family or offline, you may contact [email redacted] for details.

If you don’t know the property, Richard and Linda purchased what was a tiny farmhouse in 1989 and moved their eight children from southern California to start a country life and work the land to support their family.  It began with eight kids sleeping in one bedroom as our father built the house up around us with the help of our uncles. Although our parents often struggled financially with eight children to raise, they opened their home and hearts to youth that had no other place to go. The property became known as "Camp Creekmore" when the eldest brothers gathered large groups of friends over for music around the backyard campfire. Two of our brothers were married in the backyard.  There were countless memories made among the beautiful oak trees.

Malissa Creekmore, the organizer of this fundraiser, is the daughter of Linda and Richard Creekmore. The money raised through this fundraiser will be deposited into Linda and Richard Creekmore's bank account.

UPDATE: We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for their support. We are completely overwhelmed by the generosity of family, friends, neighbors, and community. We created this fund as a way to answer the question of "how can I help" while we figured out as a family exactly what kind of help would be best for our parents... and from it we have seen what a loving and amazing community we have. Please know our family is stronger than ever: Malissa came from the mountains to help evacuees, Michelle alerted neighbors about the fire before the sheriffs could get to them; Jason and Jessica continue to work to help those affected in Sonoma County; Kevin and Suzie are housing family and neighbors; Robert is staying safe in Sonoma County; Sheri coordinated this fund to give our parents this gift (she is the BEST gift-giver ever!); and Darren will be with my Mom tomorrow in the mountains. We are BUSY but we feel so loved. THANK YOU!!

We also want to be clear that this fund is not to rebuild their home.   That will be handled through insurance. This is to get them back on the land that means so much to them to regrow  and oversee the process of rebuilding and start making new memories on their beloved Camp Creekmore.   If you are looking to help a family with a specific need that is near to your heart, please click on the "California Fire Relief" fund link.  There are many families in need of support.
