Hi all, a lot of you visiting this page will already know Creed in person or over social media. We had Creed re-homed to us when he was 9 months old and he completely stole our hearts from the get go. He’s full of character, love and mischief. We will admit, we were a bit naive when it comes to the French Bulldog breed. We had no idea how bad their breathing can be. Creed is only 4 years old and his airways have got progressively worse. He can’t breathe at the best of times, let alone going for walks or doing anything throughout the summer season. We travelled 300 miles to get Creed the BOAS surgery he needed to improve his quality and length of his life. Unfortunately, our insurance didn’t cover this but we were able to proceed thanks to everyone who kindly and generously donated. It’s with a heavy heart that I let you all know there was a complication with his surgery and he now needs a laryngeal tie back. As this is another soft tissue procedure, we are not insured.
We realise there will be a lot of people out there thinking “if you can’t afford to keep a dog, don’t get one” or wondering why we picked this particular breed, but as I said, we were naive to how badly frenchie’s suffer. Upon extensive research, the comparison of frenchie’s to us is like us trying to breathe through a narrow straw.
The second operation is booked at Bolton Animal Trust (over 4 hours away) on 17/11 and is looking to be around £1800. We’re hoping to raise anything up to that number to help cover costs. Even if you can donate £1, we would be extremely grateful.
The thought of Creed deteriorating and his life being shortened breaks our hearts as we have another dog, Otis, that physically can’t be without him. We also have a son who is only 14 months and we want Creed to still be around when he’s old enough to interact and remember him.
We hope one day society will breed Frenchie’s back to the way they’re supposed to look because they have the BEST personalities but don’t deserve to suffer like they do.
Thank you for reading if you got this far and please help us save our fur baby x
