Cambodia’s history is rich in culture and obviously linked to art for centuries. Indeed, Cambodia has a unique cultural heritage from the Khmer Empire which is widely known worldwide.
During the civil war, every form of “Cambodian” art was endangered and even banished from the Cambodian way of life by the Khmer Rouges. Nowadays, spaces dedicated to culture are rare or even non-existent. Yet, the country is being rebuilt and provides little by little to the population with access to the culture.
Therefore, setting a Cultural Center up in Siem Reap would promote arts and culture to every community people.
Indeed, by supporting us to create the first space dedicated to culture and art, we would enable Cambodian people to access for free:
-A Media Library including a library, a study space, a computer space, and a musical space;
-An Exhibition Space;
-A Cultural Event Programme.
Cultural Space Center's general view :
The idea to create a Cultural Space Center came to my partner's mind few years ago when he visited Cambodia for the first time.
At this moment, Metrisak was supporting children from a poor village near Siem Reap and was continually looking for new ways to educate and entertain them. He used to bring them out of their village to discover new places, have a good time, escape from poverty for a little while. However, he was quick enough confronted with the nonexistence of cultural spaces and then the idea to create a Cultural Space Center blossomed out!

This idea remained in his brain until 6 months ago when he and I decided to start setting it up in a former Music Art School.
The former Music Art School and future Siem Reap Bannalay:
We have found strength from unity. We know that is a huge project which requires determination, strength, and courage but we believe so much in this project, we believe so much in Cambodian people that it gives us all the energy to achieve our objective.
Our needed budget was initially about 30 700 $ but thanks to generous people who have already given us 15 700 $ in material and financial donations (to rebuild the dance studio, get Khmer and English books as well as furniture), 15 000$ remain to build the Cultural Space Center up.

Our Objectives by creating a Cultural Space Center up are as follows:
MediaCenter
Library
Our purpose is to set a library up for personal instruction, culture, and entertainment with a variety of quality documentation such as books, magazines, and newspapers in Khmer and English for children and adults.
Computer Space
Promoting free access to computers which will improve the computer literacy of every people and will provide the same job opportunities for all.
Every people could also attend computer classes to learn how to manage software such as Design software.
Musical Space
A space dedicated to music to take time to enjoy a playing song and supplement our musical literacy.
With a variety of documentation such as CD, vinyl, magazines, audiobooks.
Enabling access to traditional and modern Khmer music, International music with different music styles.
Exhibition Space
The exhibition space will be a sharing place with a focus on art, featuring artworks made by Cambodian and International artists including different artistic styles.
A Cultural Event Programme
By organizing events embracing different artistic disciplines such as concerts, movie screenings, theatrical performances, dancing performances as well.

To conclude, thanks to your help we will build the first complex up focused on culture and art to promote:
Access to knowledge and culture with equity, entertainment, and socialisation for Cambodian people of all ages!!
