<div>Hi my name is David (selfie photo of me and Jayne) and I’m trying to raise funds for a project that my late wife Jayne Dinsdale wanted to do so much, but unfortunately passed away in April this year with Metastatic Breast Cancer , before she could make it happen. However I decided about seven weeks ago to grab the bull by the horns and do it in her memory. I put notices out on Facebook what I was doing, why I was doing it. I wanted to create a wig bank, I was asking for donations of wigs, the response has been unbelievable in total as of today 3rd August I have been donated 101 different wigs along with shampoos, oils and conditioners.

<div>This project is part of my wife’s legacy, a proper community at heart woman, she formed a Parent &amp; Toddler Group, Afternoon Out Club, on the committee at the local Workingmans Club, Chair of the Board of Governors at Wheatley Hill Primary School from 2011 to 2022, free photography for patients and their families who had cancer(Just Jaynes Photography) and finally East Durham Communities Cancer Support Group, which is still going strong. Jayne had a photography studio (please see pic )outside where she made things happen, it’s this studio that I want to convert into the home of Durham Wig Bank, the roof needs repairing, the ceiling needs repairing, painting and most of all storage and display units, eventually leading to people having a private appointment where they can feel comfortable and decide on a wig they would like to have and make my wife’s legacy complete.

<div>My wife understood exactly what patients felt like while they were having chemo and losing their hair, the despair, scared and feeling helpless, but she also realised how important it is to have support whilst going through chemo and she thrived on that. Support is everything whilst going through chemo, having a wig helped my wife greatly gave her some normality back in her life which was fantastic for her, equally fantastic for me.

<div>Wigs can truly turn peoples life around in the blink of an eye, I’ve seen it happen myself. All I need is help to get everything sorted in her studio, which got neglected while I cared for her and I need it doing desperately going forward.
