My name is Lorie and I live on a 10 acre piece of land that I have lovingly named Crazy Acres in Cherryville, British Columbia.
I am a retired police dispatcher/911 operator. The job made me a little crazy, hence the name Crazy Acres. :-)
I have always been a huge animal lover. Anyone who knows me, knows this to be true. I've rescued smaller animals my whole life (dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits), but upon my retirement I decided to live the dream I've had all my life. To have a property where I could provide a home for injured and unwanted larger animals. Farm animals hold a special place in my heart, for all they give to us.
I moved to Crazy Acres in May of 2014. Animals started finding their way to me almost immediately. I now provide a forever home for 5 horses, 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goats, a llama and an African Grey parrot. This list does not include Julie (my beloved micro mini gigantic pot bellied pig), and Emily my beautiful sweet Cockatoo. Both of you made the journey to the Rainbow Bridge. I miss you guys so much. Of course I must mention the legend Phoebe, my sweet, evil pug. While you didn't make it to Crazy Acres, you sit in your gargoyle urn in my living room watching over me.
My goal at Crazy Acres is to become a non profit organization and provide a sanctuary for what ever animals I am able to help. I've have already had to turn down a few animals because I do not have adequate fencing or shelter for them.
I am starting this fund raising campaign, because I realize that I cannot do this alone. I need help. This is an old property, and the fencing, shelters and barn here all in need repair or replacement. I need shelters for hay and for bedding, and the hay and bedding that goes in them. I need funds for vet and farrier checkups and emergencies. I need a tractor to manage manure.
I guarantee that any money raised will be used for the benefit of the animals in any of the above areas I've mentioned. I agree to post pictures of any repairs and or building done with money raised.
I also guarantee that none of this money will be used to renovate my home, take vacations, or buy any items for myself. This is for the animals.
I have already begun replacing fencing up my long driveway with horse fencing meant to keep all critters, small and large safe and secure. One of my main goals is to fence the entire perimeter of the property with this fencing.
I have managed to get the water and power lines out to the barn and corrals and done some repairs on the smaller corrals.
Anyone who knows me personally, knows how much I love these animals. I want this to be what I do. I want to make a difference in a few animals lives. Will you help me?
