Crazy About Cats- Mumbai

I am raising money for my friend Charu Shah, who cares for and manages about 80 street cats and dogs in Mumbai. I have been to India many times, and I have yet to see anyone caring for so many animals in India. I visited Charu and escorted her on the nightly feeding, and saw the many kitty heads popping up from behind buildings and fences, ecstatic for dinner. The dogs were typical dogs, loving the attention as well as the meal. They have become much healthier since Charu has started this campaign, about 6 years ago. She feeds them meat, which many of the animals don't get in this vegetarian community. Most importantly, I watched as she captured and released cats for neutering and spays. She just picks them up by the scruff of the neck and puts them in burlap bags! They really trust her. A typical spay is about 40-50 dollars. Currently, there are about 10 females that remain to be spayed, and an unknown number of males. She tends to their health problems as well. As you can imagine, it is a real struggle for her to keep up with the expenses and needs of these animals. I am starting this page to see if I can encourage some of my Facebook friends and friends of friends to donate.
