*****ENGLISH VERSION AFTER THE FRENCH ONE***** Vendredi le 9 janvier, notre vie a basculé en quelques secondes.


Mon fils, Jean-Frédérick, 27 ans, a été frappé par un autobus de la STM. Depuis ce jour, il se bat pour sa vie. Les blessures sont graves et nombreuses : plusieurs fractures, un traumatisme crânien et une fracture du crâne, la perte d’un rein, des lésions au foie et à la rate, deux fractures à la colonne vertébrale et plusieurs côtes sont brisées. Nous n'avons pas encore l'étendue complète de toutes ses blessures.


Jean-Frédérick a déjà subit deux opérations pour aider son corps à guérir et à se reconstruire. Ils lui ont mis des plaques de titane sur ses côtes 3 à 7 du coté gauche et ils ont réparer son bras droit. En ce moment (dimanche 18 janvier) il est toujours sous respirateur, car il a attrapé une bactérie qui est résistante aux antibiotiques, qui cause une septicémie dans son sang et il se bat du mieux qu'il peut pour vivre. Son état est critique mais stable, par contre, sa vie est encore en danger. 


Malgré tout cela, nous gardons espoir. Jean-Frédérick est fort. Il l’a toujours été. Et nous croyons profondément en sa capacité à traverser cette épreuve, un jour à la fois.


Aujourd’hui, notre rôle de parents est simple mais essentiel : être présents pour lui, chaque jour, à l’hôpital. Lui parler, le soutenir, lui rappeler qu’il n’est pas seul dans ce combat. Cependant, cette situation hors du commun entraîne aussi des défis financiers imprévus. Les déplacements quotidiens, l’essence, le stationnement et les frais associés s’accumulent rapidement, ainsi que les absences imprévues mais nécessaires au travail qui auront un impact important, en attendant de pouvoir obtenir de l’aide par d’autres ressources — un processus qui peut malheureusement prendre du temps.

My son, Jean-Frédérick, 27 years old, was struck by an STM bus. Since that day, he has been fighting for his life. His injuries are severe and numerous: multiple fractures, a traumatic brain injury and skull fracture, the loss of a kidney, injuries to his liver and spleen, two fractures to his spine, and several broken ribs. We do not yet know the full extent of all his injuries.

Jean-Frédérick has already undergone two surgeries to help his body heal and rebuild. Titanium plates were placed on ribs 3 to 7 on his left side, and his right arm was repaired. As of now (Sunday, January 18), he remains on a ventilator, as he has contracted a bacteria resistant to antibiotics, causing sepsis in his bloodstream. He is fighting as hard as he can to survive. His condition is critical but stable; however, his life is still in danger.

Despite everything, we remain hopeful. Jean-Frédérick is strong. He always has been. And we deeply believe in his ability to get through this ordeal, one day at a time.

Today, our role as parents is simple but essential: to be by his side every day at the hospital. To talk to him, support him, and remind him that he is not alone in this fight. However, this extraordinary situation also brings unexpected financial challenges. Daily travel, gas, parking, and related expenses add up quickly, along with unavoidable absences from work that will have a significant impact while we wait to receive assistance from other resources — a process that can unfortunately take time.
