Sarah's Replacement Car Fund

Two years ago I embarked on an exciting journey (moving from Michigan to Miami) with my friend Michelle and "Pete" my beloved Volkwagen Passat. Sadly, Pete's life with me in Miami ended on July 26th, 2014 when he was stolen from my gated apartment parking lot in the middle of the night. Pete has yet to be recovered by the North Miami Police Department. 

While I am working closely with Esurance to ensure that I receive Pete's maximum value (230,000 miles still raises eyebrows), I have some significant financial hurdles ahead of me, such as renting a car in the meantime ($150/week) but mainly saving for a new one (or at least a down payment). This is especially difficult right now because I do not get my assistantship stipend during the summer months. Being in graduate school fulltime is tough for many reasons, but arguably most because you are living a working professional's life on a college student's income. 

And so, I decided to start this fund to solicit help from family, friends, and even strangers with a heart for giving to broke doctoral students. Please know that I am not looking for hundreds of dollars from each person. I am thrilled if you feel you have $5, $10, or $20 to give - it all adds up!
