Help for our friend Karen

This fund is being set up to help our friend Karen Rose with medical expenses she has recently incurred, and is currently incurring due to a rare auto-immune disorder. Karen is currently hospitalized on Oahu where she was taken by life-flight on August 4th, 2014 in critical condition due to internal bleeding and other complications from her illness.  A similar incident happened in April, and upon discharge from the hospital learned that she was no longer employed at one of her three jobs. Since that time Karen has been selling her personal items, and looking for additional work to make up for her lost income and additional expenses.

Because of this latest set-back, Karen’s friends have rallied around her to help in any way they can to ensure that she is able to recover without the enormous burden of even more medical expenses and lost wages. 

We appreciate both Karen’s friendship, as well as her contribution to the community. We want to assist in her recovery in any way we can so she can continue doing good work on the Big Island of Hawaii. Karen works full-time with women and children who are victims of abuse. She also contributes regularly to North Hawaii News and West Hawaii Today where she covers events happening in the arts community on the Big Island. She recently started the Big Island Arts and Entertainment Facebook page where locals and visitors can visit to see what and where all of the current happenings are taking place.
