Cpt America helping VFW Post 4217

Donation protected
This is Cpt. America also known as Allen Mullins.  His mission; raise enough money so a new VFW/American Legion post can be built.  How will he do this? By walking across the United States meeting people and telling the story of the VFW/American Legion post in Warm Springs, Oregon.  The community has a long history of veterans that have served, male and female. Starting with the Modoc Wars to todays current conflicts.  The community is proud to have veterans that have served and continue to serve.  The veterans of this community do alot for the community and the community does alot for its veterans.
History of the building; the building was built in 1950's by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and it was used a garage/storage shed.  This building is currently shared by the VFW post 4217 and the American Legion post 48.  It has a small residential size kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 1 meeting room, 1 gathering area for dining or socializing, 1 small closet considered the armory and a storage area.
Cpt. America came to Warm Springs, Oregon from a referral by another VFW post. When he arrived in Warm Springs he met with the commander of post 4217.  Her reaction was one of "WTH". He was standing along side the road in front of the post in costume, wearing his Cpt. America.  What a sight, not something us expect to see in the middle of June. Once he meet with the members of the post and explained his mission and goal for assisting veterans. The post decided to agree and back Cpt. America with his goal and mission to set out across America on foot to raise funds to build a new building.
Cpt. America not a veteran himself but has a passion to help veterans. To give back and do what he can to thank them for their service and sacrifice.  He travels across the United States raising awareness regarding Veterans issues, especially homeless Veterans. He made the journey to the Warm Springs Indian Reservation in Warm Springs, Oregon  on foot from across the US.  A VFW post referred him to the Elliott Palmer Post 4217, Warm Springs, Or.  He came bringing a different point of view, a new vision, and any help he can provide for Veterans, not just the VFW post 4217 but for all Veterans living on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. Cpt America showed up a week before a huge annual celebration that is held in June to commemorate the Treaty signing for the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. During that week he cleaned up the area outside of the VFW post 4127/American Legion Post 48 by pulling weeds picking up trash. Making the exterior appear more appealling,  and as he stated "more alive".  The VFW post has a food stand every year at this celebration to raise funds. Cpt American help out with this stand by keeping the stand open all night.  Also talking with people, the community regarding veterans and all issues related to what it's like to live on an Indian Reservation.  He also entered a boxing tournament, which he has never done before. All for the experience.  Cpt. America made many friends while he was living in the post for a few weeks.  He had skater friends that would come to visit him at the post or he would go join them at the skate park.  He attended T-ball games for the younger kids. He was always walking around in his Cpt. America uniform, which the community had grown accustomed to seeing while driving by the VFW/American Legion post.  One goal that Cpt. America has set for himself to do for the veterans of this Indian community is raise enough money so the veterans can have a brand new building built. And his hope is that with the older building be turned in to a shelter for homeless veterans and those in need.
All the money raised will go towards building a new building that will be up to code and offer a new look to the community and fixing up the older building so that the possibility to have a homeless veterans shelter is available for all veterans and those in need.  It will give younger veterans returning from the service a place to call theirs.  A safe haven to go and enjoy commradery.   This will be my way of giving back my way of saying thank you to veterans.  Veterans have a very special place in my heart and I would like everyones assistance in making this happen.  I plan on being there for the building of this new facility.  I also plan on returning to Warm Springs, Oregon next year for the annual treaty day celebration.  What an experience.
