Advertising is a business where companies look to connect with people...all people! Yet, inclusion and diversity are profoundly lacking. Only 2% of the advertising and design creative departments identify as Black. We need more Black people in creative departments, not just in commercials. We need more Black writers, designers, art directors, digital designers, strategists, creative directors, and most importantly, more senior Black creatives in management and leadership positions.  So, we started The Pipeline Fund to offer financial support for Black creatives who'd like to enter the advertising and design industry by attending Chicago Portfolio School. And thanks to generous donations from individuals and agencies across the country, we've been able to offer scholarships to two amazing designers, Marlon Williams, who joined us in October 2021, and Jakeel Johnson, who joined us in July 2021.  <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54414420_1634568806352619_r.png" alt="54414420_1634568806352619_r.png" width="100%" media_type="3" />


This #GivingTuesday [November 30th] we're hoping to raise enough money to offer scholarships to 5 more students. Full tuition for one year is $19,260. Why is going to a portfolio school even necessary? Because that's where advertising agencies and design firms go to find junior-level talent. This isn't a "foot-in-the-door" business! Regardless of color, everyone needs a portfolio that demonstrates their talent and ability.  Portfolio school is how Pipeline Fund Steering Committee volunteers, Hope Lee in LA, Devyn Taylor in Miami, Jason LaFlore in Chicago, Angela Williams in NYC, and Candace Carson in San Francisco, got their first jobs.
