Hi, my name is Pierry Benjamin and my family and I are helping The Center For Perpetual Relief (CPR). Founded on June 15, 2005, CPR supports orphan children ages 6 months to 18 years old. The caregivers of the orphanage are Mrs. Eliane Monsignac and Mrs. Betty Maturin.
In 2010, I founded The BIG Live Corp (Being Involved Greatly, Living In Various Environments/TBL). TBL is a youth based educational program that provides high-quality, direct support curriculum for students in New York City Middle Schools.
In 2016, I visited Haiti immediately after Hurricane Matthew devastated the southern coast of Haiti. The hurricane effected thousands of residence, destroying hundreds of homes; abolishing livestock and crops community members depend on. The storm left The Center For Perpetual Relief without electricity, damaged the compound grounds, and most importantly without food.
After visiting Haiti in 2016, I reached out to family, friends, community members and members to gather resources for the children in CPR.
In 2016 #TBL aimed to raised over $6,000 for CPR! By working closely with local vendors, and partnering company sponsors, TBL was able to provide over 3-months supply of food, diapers, feminine products and first aid with the funds raised.
CPR however consistently suffers from a lack of sufficient nutritious foods and clean water for its children. This is due to the ongoing challenges within the Haitian political, social and economic climate.
In addition to these hardships, CPR’s compound has experienced many challenges. It does not have electricity for a third of the day. It’s roofing has been damaged by rain and tropical storms. In addition, children’s beds and clothes have been damaged by flooding.
The goal of #ProjectBIG is to provide a food pantry to CPR that is replenished monthly. The pantry includes nutritious foods, meat proteins, vitamins, clean water, toiletry needs and educational materials to the existing children.
In addition, #ProjectBIG aspires to allocate enough resources to repair CPR’s damaged infrastructure, improve electrical supply, provide WiFi access, smart boards and lap tops to the children living and learning within the compound.
The BIG Live Corp , will coordinate logistics, deploy resources, and transparent communication networks between key staff through social and digital media. TBL will rely on its community partners, social campaigns and independent sponsors to achieve this goal.
