This past May, Dustin, had his 6 month scan which was great. He previously fought Hodgkin's Lymphoma and was in remission so these scans were important and mile stones for us. There was no active disease for Hodgkin's Lymphoma present with this scan. We were excited because he had one more 6 month scan before he would go to yearly scans!! A long awaited milestone our family was looking forward too.
Delana (his wife) has been in and out of the hospital March. Dustin had lost about 40 pounds during that time and we thought it was due to anxiety so he made an appointment with his Primary Care Physician. After blood work had been taken, he was sent to his Oncologist because his White Blood Count was 32. His Oncologist decided the best thing to do was a bone marrow biopsy. (Dustin's least favorite thing in the world to do.) He went in for the results today and the doctor told him he has CML, Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. CML is a cancer of the blood, which there is no cure for, but he can take treatment to control it. Dustin should start treatment Tuesday.
We, as a family, are asking for donations to help cover the cost of the co-pay and treatment for Dustin's CML. Any donation, no matter how small, would not only be a gift of life for Dustin, but so gratefully appreciated by our family for someone we love so very much beyond words.
If you can't donate and can offer a prayer as he starts this new journey, we would also be extremely appreciative. We know God has great things planned for Dustin!
Dustin's diagnosis of Hodgkin's Lymphoma was devastating news for all family and friends. This new cancer diagnosis is even more devastating. Dustin is such a kind and beautiful person and is a son, a husband, a father, a brother, a friend, United States Gulf War Navy Veteran, and so many more things to so many more people. He has to endure the painful diagnosis, treatment, and sickness, but his cancer has affected EVERY SINGLE PERSON that loves him. Cancer doesn't care if someone loves you... and is unforgiving. Please help us and God Bless.
