Maryann's Cancer Journey

On January 24th, my beautiful 11 year old niece Maryann was not feeling well and extremely weak and went to the dr. Two days later my brother John was informed that Maryann needed to go to the hospital immediately. Her red blood cell count was alarmingly low. It was at 7 when should be 12.
Within the first 24 hours Maryann had two blood transfusions to bring up her red blood count. After numerous tests, X-rays, and blood work they received the results that no parent ever wants to hear. My brother John's only child, the bright shining light of his life, the one who’s owns his heart has cancer! Maryann has Stage 3 Hodgkin Lymphoma. There many tumors are surrounding her heart, bronchial tract, which is making it difficult for her to breathe, kidney and in her stomach. This is such a crushing blow to the family. Hodgkin Lymphoma is treatable and is very responsive to the vigorous treatment that is planned. Maryann will undergo chemo and some radiation. She will have a battle that no child should have to take on.
Maryann is a God loving little girl. Anyone who knows her or has had the opportunity to be around her, knows how special she is. She is also brave, showing her courage as she has been told of her diagnosis. Maryann even has smiles for all who have come to visit trying not show their sadness.
Maryann has already had 8 rounds Chemo which has made her so weak, and brought her white blood cell count down to .49 when it should be between 300 -500. She had to go back to the hospital for a third blood transfusion.
That being said, Maryann is John's first priority and has been at the hospital daily in the beginning of this journey and fitting work in when he can. He is not working a full schedule due to checking in with Maryann and various appointments for her. All of this comes at a price.
Here is how you can help: Medical bills are starting to come in. With Johns schedule not at its full capacity, there are financial demands that he will be responsible for. Any funds that are donated will go toward Maryann's treatment, recovery and daily living. I implore that you open your hearts in any way that you can. Every little bit will help.
