Josh and Shelly Buck Campaign

Josh and Shelly Buck are no strangers to struggle and have had anything but the perfect fairytale life in the past 11.5 years.

In 2005 Josh and Shelly lost their 2 month old daughter Ava when a fan fell out of a window and crushed her to her death. Sixteen short months later, while vacationing in Cancun, Josh dove into the water (a 6’4 triathlete) and was pulled out a permanent quadriplegic. For almost anyone, these tragedies would be more then one could handle. However,  Josh and Shelly serve a big God, and it was no surprise to God that this had happened. They have walked this road continually trying to give God glory and have also allowed us to walk it with them.

If you know this couple or have heard them speak, you know they are incredibly open and honest, both about the difficulties and personal shortcomings. It became important to them to show others God’s love and mercy and began a 501(c)(3), reaching out to other families in crisis, showing them Christ’s love and meeting physical needs. The ministry is known as Josh & Shelly Buck Family Ministries. (Please see link below for more back story and ministry information.) Today (1/18/2017) was their 10 year anniversary of the diving accident that changed both of their lives forever. They wanted to celebrate how far God has brought them in the past ten years, how God has brought them from despair to joy!

But... a celebration was not to be.  Josh spent the anniversary of this accident in the ICU, fighting for his life. He came extremely close to dying on this tenth anniversary suffering from severe sepsis and pneumonia. Josh has been in and out of the hospital for the past six months; he has spent more than a total of eight weeks inpatient. He is currently in the longest stay yet at two and a half weeks. But last night was the worst. Shelly thought she may lose him in the early morning hours; his blood pressure plummeted to 79/22, he was running a fever of 102.5 with no response to medication, and was completely unaware of what was going on around him. She had to consider calling family in because things became so dire. Praise God, after and extremely scary five hours, with many family and friends praying, Josh turned the corner. Shelly was told that family would not have to come in after all.

When Josh goes home (hopefully soon!), he is going to need a lot of extra help. Hiring nursing care, completely out of pocket, gets expensive fast. They have already been struggling financially with all the extra costs that occur with long hospital stays especially when both are away from home. (Long hospital stays take a huge toll on the family, both emotionally and financially). Along with mounting hospital bills this family is already consumed by other challenges; every day things we take for granted such as "time". Time to prepare a dinner in the evening (frozen dinners to pop in the oven are a huge blessing)(or just simply getting to the grocery store), general housecare and keeping, shuffling kids from here to there, huge overages on cell phone data making for hefty monthy payments, plus extra needs for their son who has some special needs of his own, and much more.

Any energy stores Shelly has left needs to be conserved for their three kids and for Josh, as he is emotionally RAW right now. To do that we need your help.

This family, who has committed their lives to serving God by serving others in crisis, could use some help from us now.

Would you consider donating to this family today? You would be such a blessing. We also realize that not everyone has the financial ability to give but may still desire to help. Would you please share this page and their web page
