On Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015, our lives were forever changed with the passing of our precious son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend Cameron.
Cameron was tragically killed in a car accident only a few minutes from home. In that moment the lives of all who knew and loved him were insurmountably devastated. He loved life. He loved making people laugh and feel connected to him. It is only right that we honour his passing trying to continue his connection to people.
While waiting for the news, three people appeared from the back of the ambulance. These were the Victim Services volunteers who had been called out to support our family during the notification. They were like angels arriving to support us in the most horrific of crisis. They stood with us for hours, supporting us in whatever way possible.
That evening on the highway, the pure devastation and loss was visceral. It was a bitter night and everyone around us was trying to find a way to keep us warm. In the following months I would recall that numbing cold and the emptiness we felt. With that in mind we started the Cozie 4 Bozie initiative. We wanted to collect new blankets / throws to be given to Victims during their most traumatic time by wrapping them in a warm hug.
We are proud to advise that we raised 70 blankets during a very short time last year.
Our goal this year is to raise 100 or more blankets to donate to Victim Services.
To make it easier, we have purchased the blankets that will have the Cozie 4 Bozie logo on them. With a donation of $20, you will be providing a blanket (and a warm hug) to someone who is in their darkest moment. They will know that others care and they are not alone.
