OUR FAITH IN GOD KEEPS US GOING! This year, I had a lengthy battle with Cancer and the very painful treatments that go with it. I had very strong doses of chemo therapy and 35 heavy doses of radiation treatments concentrated on my head and neck area. In 4 months I lost 80lbs. because I couldn't eat food with my mouth and throat being so damaged and painful from the radiation. This cancer treatment far exceeded the pain and suffering I had with two previous spinal surgeries, open heart surgery and the impact on my body from a serious car wreck I had been in. I am now suffering through the recovery period with something called "Chemo Fog" or "Chemo Brain". The terms "Brain and Fog" sum it up in two words. It is a common side effect from the intense Chemo and radiation poisoning of the body. Doctors have said, if I can survive the damage done by the cure or treatments, I will be OK. So now I need to heal. That takes time, 12-18 months is normal but it could last longer or never recede depending on the patient,  and we are hoping the cancer does not return. You don't see cancer coming. One day it's just there. Hopefully it is caught in time. It has kept me out of work since January15, 2018. January 15, 2019 will be a year since I have an any income from my job at Boston Whaler. My family needs help as most people would. Not so much for me, but for my family, my children's well being and literally keeping a roof over our heads. We have never had a Christmas without decorating, and having a tree. This was the first time. Gifts were donated and provided by others to make this years Christmas as normal as possible for our children. God Bless those that participated. It saved us from incredible stress and disappointment to our kids. "What goes around, comes around." I DON'T WANT CANCER IN MY LIFE ANY  MORE! We have exhausted our short-term disability insurance, our cancer policy helped through the treatments, and of course, long-term disability found a way to consider this, "Pre-existing". But I am here to celebrate these holidays with my family and am grateful for that, although we need help to keep up with day to day necessities. I was raised Catholic, attended a Catholic elementary school in Winter Park, Fl. and believe my faith in God and his many blessings will see my Family through this.
