But that does not stop him from being the same old positive and care-free Joey that every one knows and loves.
Five years ago Joey was involved in a Dirt Bike Accident. An entire team and 42 pins, screws and two plates saved Joey's leg from amputation. At that time he was hospitalized with an infection that almost took his life.
Recently, Joey went in for what seemed to be a routine appointment. Routine turned into 5 days at the hospital in Vacaville with Chronic Osteomyelitis.
Treatment for this included two additional surgeries, and he will spend the next 4-6 weeks with an At-Home PICC IV Line and IV antibiotic Infusions every 8 hours for 2.5 hours at a time. Along with the IV treatments he has another surgery scheduled in two weeks.
This will be a total of Seven surgeries, Phsyical therapy, Infectious Disease Doctors, plastic surgery, medical supplies and co-pays... He had all of the metal and hardware removed from his body and he feels a little better every day. We still have a long way to go.
Any and all support is appreciated to help our family through this time.
