We have delivered over 2,400 shields to date and have received extremely positive feedback on coverage, fit, and comfort from Nurses, ED doctors, Anesthesiologists, Respirator Therapists, OB/GYNs, EMTs, Radiologists, and Drive Thru Testing Sites. The shield is currently in use at Kaiser, UCLA, USC, Metropolitan Hospital of New York, John's Hopkins, and San Francisco General Hospital among others.
We are currently out of inventory and we are hoping to switch to mass producing the shield, which would allow us to produce thousands per day at a very low cost. We are especially interested in doing this to assist countries with minimal resources as the virus spreads.
Because the shield is fabricated from 100 percent plastic (PETG), it can be easily cleaned for reuse. It provides excellent coverage by extending below the chin, around the face, and above the head. We are manufacturing our face shields in our fabrication facility in Downtown Los Angeles. During non-covid times we are designers and fabricators working in the scenic industry in LA.
We are looking for funding for the setup costs for stamping/die cutting the shields. The cost to produce the die/stamp is $1,100 (two shields per stamp) and the initial material supply is an additional $2,300. All funds donated will be managed by me and used to purchase the die and materials to provide donated shields.
Update - we have purchased our die and are producing now thousands per day. We are looking for funds to cover materials to donate shields. The costs of production are low (in the $2 range per shield) so each dollar goes far. This is a photo of our die:
