Earthquake & COVID Relief for Good Samaritan Haiti
Donation protected
Due to COVID-19, all activity closed in Haiti on March 19, 2020. Schools and churches were shut down, including the School of the Good Samaritan in the city of Mireabalais, Haiti. The school was founded after the devastating earthquake in 2010. Starting in June, I have been working with teacher Wendel Dorsainvil (pictured) to raise funds to support the neighborhood and the 29 teachers. I met Wendel in 2012 when I visited Haiti. His father started the school and they have been advocating for their community to receive support. We have been able to raise money to purchase food one time for the neighborhood children and their families (see picture), and one time for the teachers. In June we raised funds to help supplement the lost income of the teachers, who haven't seen a paycheck since the virus began in March. COVID-19 continues to accelerate in Haiti, with hospitals overwhelmed with patients and citizens suffering due to the shutdowns.

We need more support to keep the community going. There are no jobs available in Haiti and the communities do not receive any financial support from their government. Funds raised will be used to purchase food for the neighborhood, support the struggling teachers who dedicate their lives to educating the children, and help support the community as COVID-19 continues. Right now our goal is $3,000.
This is URGENT as the community members are continually going to teacher Wendel's house in need of food. Wendel and I have been working together to raise funds online and in-person, but donations have begun to slow down so we are turning to GoFundMe to campaign for the people of Good Samaritan.
Churches opened up last Sunday, and the President declared that schools will reopen August 10. The future of the pandemic in Haiti is uncertain, and we need to prepare to support the school and community members in every way that we can.
All donations are so valued no matter how small, and prayers are welcome and requested for the community as they continue to struggle with the pandemic restrictions. $100 will pay for a teacher's income for the entire month. Please help our friends in Haiti, they are in dire need and going hungry during the pandemic. Thank you so much in advanced and if you would like more information, check out updates on my Facebook page, Grace Dugery or the school's website Good Samaritan Haiti , You may also donate via venmo or cash app if it is easier, mention Good Samaritan in your transaction! venmo: grace-dugery cash app: $gracedugery

Wendel and Djimy today. Djimy is a student at Good Samaritan, and he is one of the 200 students who have been without education since the pandemic began.
