COVID-19 Masks for Homeless-Jersey City

Thirteenth week and the community is getting stronger. We have personally served over 600 meals to the homeless of Jersey City and Hoboken. Many of the people we have fed have become extended family. We know their names, and they know ours. We have learned of some of their journeys. Many were born and raised in our city. So many friends and family have contributed their time, efforts, talents, money and love. We started this because during the beginning of the pandemic we found many on the streets had lost their external support system. Many were picking through garbage and dumpsters in search of food. We did not think this to be acceptable in our society and in our home. Many of our homeless neighbors congregated in close contact to each other and in the beginning none had masks. Regardless of their journey, possible issues, and addictions (like many of us) our homeless neighbors enjoy a great home cooked meal and desserts, more importantly helping to educate and protect them by giving them reusable masks, helps us all in fighting this invisible virus and making our community stronger. We look forward to extending our efforts with the continued support of all of you. Moms2Work B.RICH Consulting My boyfriend and I have been going out every Sunday since COVID-19 started to feed the homeless in Jersey City, NJ after seeing so many really desperate people on the streets scrounging for food.  Over the course of these now 5 weeks, we are up to the goal of feeding 50 people this Sunday with homemade soups, stews, pasta and cupcakes (warms everyone's hearts!) all with donations from our community.  Our big drive right now is masks.  We have to ensure that we protect each other against this horrible virus. Providing masks and education to those who may not be aware will help flatten the curve. I have my Mom’s Eugene, Oregon retirement community working on sewing masks as we speak.  We have others who are willing to sew masks as well. We need funding for materials and shipping.  XO.
