Covid19 Masks for Navajo Nation

Hi! My name is Kim. During the initial spread of COVID-19 in Utah during the winter, I was navigating starting up my own sewing repair company. Needless to say, inquiries for work became nonexistent but I still had my sewing machine and lots of time. Thanks, quarantine!

Chatter was swirling around about the impending lack of PPE. I knew I couldn't just let my skills sit unused. After frantically searching online, I was (luckily!) able to source materials for face masks based off a wonderful pattern created and shared by SUAY. Check the pattern and more info HERE.

I had been introduced to a local contact at the nonprofit organization Native American Events (NAE). At the time they were already underway carrying out a donation drive for the Navajo Nation for COVID-19 relief. I was able to finish 400 of the 800 masks for them to take with. I am currently cutting and pinning the second 400 masks. ***All donations are dispersed to local Navajo Nation leaders, who then further spread them out to where they see the need.

I'm looking to source funds for my time and materials for all 800 masks. Please donate if you feel inclined. I also realize money is tight for many! Please at least consider sharing. Thank you!!
